Aviation complex and helicopters

The aviation complex includes the following:

Helipad being made of steel, covered with nets, anti-slip painting and lashing points for securing while the helicopters are on helideck.

Guard rails, foldable around the helipad

Helipad dimensions: 16 x 14 m

Vessel has 2 additional loading platforms of which 1 is on the bow and the second between the helideck and the cargo holds. The aft platform which is on top of the hangar can be used as another 2nd helipad for charterer's helis.

Complex of the shipborne aviation technical facilities ensures shipbasing of up to two large transport helicopters of KA-32 or alternatively Alouette-III or equivalent types to carry out the cargo operations from ship to shore. Provision is made for using of helicopters of different systems.

The vessel is also equipped with homing beacon and one extra radar for flight surveillance.

Deck hangar with a winch for transportation of helicopters to and from platform.

Helicopter control station on the port side, fitted with all the radio communications and the radar on top.

Radio communication facilities, aids of helicopter by radar surveillance and guidance to the ship. Communication facilities for helis are as well on the navigation bridge.

Helicopter fuelling, electrical power supply, heating systems as well as other systems ensuring proper operation of the shipborne helicopters in Antarctica.

2 helicopters to be stored in the vessel's hangar and 2 further in hold No. 5 which is underneath the helideck. The helis from hold No. 5 can be taken by cranes to the platform on top of the hangar.

Dimensions of hangar: Length: 14 m, beam: 10 m, height 5,8 m

Foam-fire-fighting as per rules for shipborne helicopters
